simon kim is an artist from seoul, south korea, currently based in new york city. he has recently completed his mfa at the university of chicago (DoVA).
he distills patterns of human behavior and biological phenomena into modules of lines and geometries. these fragments are then spliced into new orientations in a range of physical and digital media. emotion, language, and relations function as the building blocks of an alphabet that he shuffles to produce each work. technology has been a companion and mirror since childhood, and his art often reflects genetic, algorithmic, and planetary themes and processes.
