What others perceive as a place of closeness and meaning remains for the author silent and unresponsive – distant. Although she tries to understand, no connection is made; the distance only grows. Images that fracture and slip away create a rhythm, as if they themselves wished to keep their distance. Emptiness speaks as strongly as belonging, and in absence a new, quiet presence emerge.
