Duo improvisation performance with electronics
Based in Berlin, Wan-Chien Lin and Mizuki Ishikawa are sound artists exploring the intersection of a ritual through improvisation and sound art. In this collaboration, they reframe the traditional bai bai ceremony as a method of performance, using audio as a medium for cultural and spiritual dialogue. Bai Bai is a ritual that bridges the human and the unseen, offering incense, ringing bells, and placing food as acts of reverence and communication with ancestral spirits. Using electronics, objects and instruments, the artists transform these ritualistic sounds into a layered soundscape inviting the audience to an experience through improvisation.
