36 Dreams

In order to connect the numerous sanatoriums located on the plateau with the valleys below, 15 tunnels were dug into the mountain beneath the Contemporary Art Center of Lacoux at the beginning of the 20th century. The progress of medicine made the sanatoriums obsolete, and the project was eventually abandoned. This labyrinth in a straight line, hidden in the heart of the mountain, is still present to this day. The old dream keeps palpitating through the landscape. The resurgences, abysses and cliffs scattered throughout the territory form, with these tunnels, an im- plicit and secret topography.
