Tom Goemare (*1995 in Bernay, France) is a percussionist in the field of contemporary music and sound performance. Influenced by minimal music and his preference for dance and visual arts, Tom is particularly interested in the connections between physical and sonic matter, using raw materials such as wood, metal or stone. He specialises in repertoire that offers more freedom to the performer, and therefore enjoys playing works for free instrumentation as much as graphic scores. As a founding member of the ensemble sh|ft, he explores different performance formats in conjunction with new technologies. In the interdisciplinary collective Projet Expérience Projet, together with dancers Lisa Biscaro Balle and Thaïs Weishaupt, he explores setups that encode sounds and movements. After a Bachelor's degree at the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse and a Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (HMDK), Tom is currently studying New Music in the Master's programme at HMDK and completing a pedagogical training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.Philippe Hurel, Francesco Filidei, Bernhard Lang, Sara Glojnaric and Jennifer Walshe are among the composers he has already worked with. In various chamber music formations, including the ULYSSES Ensemble, he has played concerts at the ManiFeste Festival at IRCAM Paris, Bebeethoven Bonn and Spider Festival Ljubljana.Tom Goemare is a scholarship holder of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg 2021, and the Deutsches Musikrat scholarship programme Neustart Kultur 2022.
