DATAME (2020)Mila Bubliy & Isha Naguiat Challenge Paper during Artist Residency at Plan8t Air (Changsa, China)Technology has become one of the blessings and curses of modern society.While especially now during the Covid-19 crisis digital tools slowly replace physical interaction, the dangers of a dual life and maybe even a traceless fully virtual one cannot be neglected. With our study on digital humanity in the context of our project INTERSECTION, we aim to explore this janus-faced relationship and focus on what isolation and digital freedom do to identity and a feeling of self.
Mila Bubliy is an artist and poet from Kassel, Germany. Her work deals with current questions in the context of transformation – ranging from individual aspects to socio-relevant topics like the interplay of humans and nature. Mila’s art combines visual, literary (often short poems) and digital components, achieving a multi-level experience for the viewer and triggering discourses. Her art has been shown on three continents including the World Culture Museum (Weltkulturen Museum) in Francfort, Germany. Beginning of 2019 her first pieces of contemporary literature have been published. Isha Naguiat is a visual artist from Manila, Philippines. She graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts majoring in Painting. She often uses textile, embroidery and photo transfer to create works that revolve around time, space, memory or identity. She has participated in several group exhibitions since 2011 and was an artist-in-residentat Takt Gallery in Berlin, Germany in 2017. In 2019 she exhibited her first solo shows with Vinyl on Vinyl (Makati, Philippines) called “Little Packages of Incomprehensible Things” and “This used to be a house” with Finale Art File (Makati, Philippines).https://ishanaguiat.com/www.instagram.com/ishanaguiat
