SKAM Ensemble

SKAM - Stuttgarter Kollektiv für Aktuelle Musik The Stuttgarter Kollektiv für Aktuelle Musik S-K-A-M was founded in 2015 as a non-profit association in order to unite and strengthen the freelance scene of contemporary, experimental, and improvised music in the metropolitan area of Stuttgart. Music professionals in Stuttgart thus enacted a change to a more group oriented strategy, the importance and pertinence of which has been underscored by the city of Stuttgart, who granted S-K-A-M the status of a permanent institute in 2018. The collective is a member-run platform, which brings activities of an often heterogeneous scope to a broad audience. S-K-A-M has been presenting the concert series K-R-A-M on a regular basis since its formation. Furthermore, every year a music event is held in a public space, which is especially designed for the space and seeks out new concert formats and social structures. In 2016, SKAM established a music ensemble formed by its members as a task force for the creation and interpretation of 21st century music and sound art. The vibrant and daring Stuttgart scene of contemporary music is bolstering the regional and international profile of Stuttgart as a “city of contemporary music.” Since its foundation SKAM ensemble has been active touring in Germany, Rumania and Chile, seeking for international collaboration and exchange with composers and other collectives such as the Chilean ensemble fra(c)tura. Nikola Lutz - Composer - Saxophone Prof. Nikola Lutz is a composer-performer based in Stuttgart. Apart from her lively concert activities as a saxophone player, Nikola is composing electronic music and working with sonic extensions of the instrument. In sound sculptures between composed and improvised contemporary music electronic and acoustic sonorities are overlapping and newly connected to each other. She especially focuses on interdisciplinary concepts, for example in her work series „GraphicSound“, where she works with graphic scores as well as modified empty vinyls with the aim of exploring audiovisual perception and sound conception. Her works have been performed in festivals and concert series such as Eclat festival Stuttgart, K-R-A-M Stuttgart, Donaufestival Korneuburg (AU), Festival Plein les sens Mulhouse (F), Beijing Central Conservatory (China). Alessia Hyunkyung Park - Sopranoborn in Seoul, South Korea, started her Singing-studies in Seoul in 2001. From 2007 to 2011 she studied at the Liszt School of Music Weimar by Prof. Siegfried Gohritz. From 2011 to 2013 she got her Master of music in "New Music" / Singing by Prof. Angelika Luz and Frank Wörner at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart. After that she chooses the concert exam by Prof. Angelika Luz. She participated in master classes by Antonietta Stella and Clara Scarangella in Rome, by Helen Donath, Peter Schreier at the Accademia Internazionale di Musica / Rome. She took part in the 8. Stuttgart International Congress voting days and microtonality. As a soloist she appeared at the "days of New Music" in Weimar and Lübeck. She sang in several concerts in Rome, Seoul, Munich, Rostock and Stuttgart. First stage experience she gained in Seoul as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Adele (Lelisir d'amore) and at the German National Theatre in Weimar in "Die Grille" by Richard Aires. In 2012 she won the International Competition "Fata Morgana" in Italy, the competition for vocal art, new Music Theatre in Stuttgart and in 2013 a special prize at the competition for interpretation of Contemporary Music 2013 in Karlsruhe.Website: http://www.alessiapark.de

Marija Skender – Piano - Keyboardis Montenegrin pianist, addicted to contemporary music. Her repertoire consists of the most diverse styles of contemporary music, including contemporary improvisation, electronic music, in connection with the visual arts, musical theater or dance movement. Her aim is to bring contemporary music closer to wider audience, therefore she conceived program choosing the most interesting works. Marija Skender has held concerts in Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia (Festival Novalis), Slovenia (Festival Maribor, RTV Ljubljana, Slowind Festival), Austria (Internationale Woche - Graz) and France (Université de Cergy Pontoise Paris). In Germany, she has performed in Karlsruhe (Piano + Festival - ZKM), Wolfsburg (Movimentos Festival), Stuttgart (Festival Sommer in Stuttgart) and Freiburg (Ensemble Akademie) and in Italy at Music festivals in Lucca and Chioggia as well. Agata Zięba - violaAgata was born in Krakow, Poland. She studied viola as well as music theory at the music university of the same place and accomplished both diplomas with distinction. She continued her professional training with Prof. Andra Darzins at HMDK Stuttgart, where she completed her Master’s degree in 2011. Furthermore, she followed a specialized course in Contemporary Music which she completed in 2013. In 2008 she has been a price winning artist at the well renowned Radowski competition in Poland.Since 2012 she is solo violist at the opera Bialystok, since 2014 she is a violist in the Philharmonie Baden-Baden. Additionally, she plays new and experimental music with the Ensembles SKAM, Crossart and Brax. Together with these ensembles she has premiered numerous works by Sascha Dragićević, Laura Manolache, Matthias Kaul, Ricardo Nillni, Remmy Canedo, Sophie Pope, Nikola Lutz, Biagio Putignano and others. She recently recorded chamber music for Biagio Putignano’s portrait CD “Lob der Musik” which appears in autumn 2019 on the Label Ambiente Audio.

Remmy Canedo - Composer - Computer music designerRemmy Canedo is a digital alchemist that transmutes mechanical waves into experimental electronic art. He studied composition and computer music at the University of Chile (BA) with Jorge Pepi Alos, Musikhochschule Stuttgart (MA & Konzertexamen) with Marco Stroppa and later at IRCAM (Cursus 1 & 2) with Hector Parra. His music explores the manipulation and deformation of sound in real time, being the experimentation and dialog between machines and performers his central point. In the past years, he focuses his work on the implementation of live algorithmic composition as an expansion of the concept of sound manipulation, but in this case applied to the score, generating interactive networks that involve the compositional process, performers and visual elements for the creation of multiform music. In 2012 he start making audiovisual installations together with Tobias Hartmann which gave birth to AVAF (AudioVisualArtFabrik) collective for interactive art, winning the 1st prize in the International Lanxess Composition Competition at Acht Brücken Festival (Köln).
